DIRECTOR OF IT

THE OPPORTUNITY

Confidential Company's IT Director is responsible for all the technology needs of over 100 retail locations and the corporate office, including managing servers, overseeing all POS systems, back office PCs, and security cameras, in addition to other duties.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Configure, maintain, upgrade and support all workstations, peripherals and laptops at required internal and commercial software and hardware revision levels and configurations per specified Johnson Controls standards.

  • Responsible for helping to patch in new or moving data ports for cable and phone equipment, desktop and laptop workstations and applications. 

  • Responsible for updating and maintaining security cameras and all other technology related security items, in all aspects.

  • Installing cameras, configuring POS system, computers, and printers at all locations.

  • Phone, network, and camera moves and cable adds.

  • Respond and resolve user IT problems and system integrity issues. Perform repairs, including warranty repair work.

  • Assist in providing end user training, in the use of workstations.

  • Utilizing change management tools, performs moves, adds and changes to the network and PC devices as requested. 

  • Small to large cable installations and troubleshooting of network issues.

WHO YOU ARE

A broadly trained IT strategist who can both execute and delegate execution to IT field members, while maintaining accountability for everything IT. You have real life field experience - 5+ years related experience with Internet, phone, and camera troubleshooting, changeovers, and installs. Minimum of Associates degree in computer science or related field. Certified Network Practitioner/Engineer is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to keep all machines (computers, POS system, etc.) up to date with all current updates. 

  • Proficiency with troubleshooting concepts; PC workstations (laptops and desktops), phone, and internet. 

  • Understanding of port identification and patching in new or moved data ports.

  • Ability to keep all routers up to date with latest firm ware.

  • Knowledge of VPN tunnels and keeping them working.

  • Full understanding of routers and networks to assure the integrity of VPNs, to protect network and connections to process credit cards via the Internet.

  • Knowledge of MS SQL to manage backups and maintenance for servers.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer interface skills, problem solving and innovation resolution ability.

  • Ability to be a highly effective team member is required.
