THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a well-established service and construction company in Macomb County. We are seeking a strong Financial Controller to lead and develop the Finance and Accounting team and functions. The position reports to a company Chief and manages several people of their own. The ideal leader for this team contributes both strategically and as a player / coach, getting in the weeds with their team. The company has and will continue to experience growth via M&A and other strategic initiatives and this person will be critical.
Responsibilities:

Partake in strategic planning and implementations

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including preparation and delivery of financial statements and monthly financial package

Treasury management, including bank management and rolling 13 week cash flow projections

Identify areas for process improvement and lead implementations

Oversee AP, AR, and purchasing functions within the department

General Ledger accounting, recording journal entries, and account reconciliations

Hire, train, mentor, develop, and terminate staff members

Oversee payroll

Ad hoc projects, reports, and analysis

Analysis and involvement in strategic opportunities including M&A and service line expansion, including forecasting, due diligence, and integrations

Continuous improvement of internal controls and procedures
Qualifications:
-
3-5 years of previous Controller experience or equivalent

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Strong leadership capabilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to self initiate and work independently with less guidance
